1st Mondays is Naked Angels' free monthly reading series of full-length plays developed through Tuesdays@9 New York. Once selected, completed works are provided a space, director, cast, and brief rehearsal period. Established in 2003, our 1st Mondays program is part of a long tradition of creative development powered by NYC writers and actors. Over the years, 1st Mondays has launched plays that later achieved critical success, such as Geoffrey Nauffts' Next Fall (Broadway), Kia T. Barbee's Roommates (Wild Project Theater / Featured Playwright in the Fresh Fruit Festival), Pamela Grayson's Observant (semi-finalist at the National Jewish Playwriting Contest), and Cynthia Kaplan's Cindy of Arc (finalist for the 2023 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater).
